Our story
From Rampur to Amstelveen ❤️
An authentic recipe from a mother, a little kitchen, and a journey we never expected.
In 2018, when I came to the Netherlands from India, I brought something very special with me, a family recipe for authentic biryani, passed down through generations and taught to me by my mother.
That recipe eventually became Umme’s Biryani.
I started by simply making biryani for friends and family gatherings. People loved it, and soon the requests started coming: “When are you making biryani again?”
So, with a growing demand and a lot of excitement, I started taking orders from home.
What began as a passion for cooking, slowly became small business, with orders Sunday after Sunday… gathering after gathering. ❤️
And what stayed the same was the recipe, the aroma, and the care that went into every pot.
Because we believe good food is about more than satisfying hunger.
It brings people together.
It creates memories.
And for those living far from home, it brings a little taste of home back to them.
For years, we cooked mainly on Sundays, from our home kitchen. Life got busier, but your messages, orders, recommendations, and requests kept reminding us that perhaps this little journey could become something more.
And now, after years of cooking from home, that little dream is taking its next step.
Umme’s Biryani is moving to a bigger professional kitchen at Food Court Amsterdam, in Amstelveen. ❤️
And that means something very exciting for us:
We can finally serve you on more days - not just Sundays.
🔥 A bigger kitchen.
🔥 More days.
🔥 More biryani.
🔥 More Dishes.
🔥 Daily Curated menu.
🔥 But the same family recipe.
The kitchen may be bigger now, but the heart behind the food remains exactly the same:
Cook it like we would for our own family.
Serve it with love.
Our Mission:
We want every box of Umme’s Biryani to be more than just a meal. To bring a smile to your face with food.
We believe good Indian food needs time, care, and love. That’s why, instead of offering a huge menu, we focus on a small, carefully curated selection of every day, prepared the way we would cook for our own family, with quality ingredients, traditional recipes, and without unnecessary shortcuts.
- But our purpose goes beyond food.
10% of our profits will be dedicated to helping underprivileged students in my hometown of Rampur, India. So with every meal you enjoy, you are also helping bring a smile and an opportunity to some.❤️
Now we hope that whether you have been with us since our very first Sunday or you are discovering Umme’s Biryani for the first time
you'll be part of this next chapter. ❤️
Your
Umme
